Well, Zach and I are home from a very much needed vacation in Florida visiting friends.
Last Monday we left Greenville, SC and traveled to Orlando, FL to visit my college best friend, her husband and their son. Every year Zach is required to complete continuing education (CEU) for his licensing and in the past his CEU trips have taken him to Los Angeles and Zion National Park. Those 2 places were awesome of course, but this year we wanted to make it a little extra special and save a little bit of money, too. So we thought, “let’s go to Florida to visit Hillary and John (and maybe ride a few rides)!” It was the most perfect work-vacation ever.
Visiting Hillary and John was just the laughter and fun that we needed! We ate out sooo many times (Black Rooster Taqueria is the greatest taco place in existence), went to Islands of Adventure and rode rides until our brains were jumbled, visited Disney Springs, watched the Bachelor all the way back to episode 1, and went for tons of walks around their gorgeous neighborhood. We basically ate and laughed our way through the week!
A breakdown of things we did:
- Universal Studios Islands of Adventure: if you’re asking yourself if you need Express Passes, the answer is yes! If you’re wondering if Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure was worth standing in line for 2 HOURS AND 40 MINUTES, the answer is 1000% yes! Should you buy the food? No. Pack a lunch. Such a money saver.
- Downtown Maitland/Winter Park: visit Park Avenue and shop or walk around. Walk around Lake Baldwin, so beautiful!
- Where to eat in Maitland/Winter Park: Prato, best italian food! Get their meatballs and caesar salad. I’m seriously drooling just thinking about it again. Black Rooster Taqueria, the nachos were off the charts. Hillary and John highly, highly recommend Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream.
- Where to eat in Disney Springs: we only went here for 1 night, but we ate at D-Luxe Burger which was the cheapest option, but the burger was very good! And for dessert you gotta go to Ghirardelli for ice cream.
Normally, I’m a homebody went it comes to rest and relaxation or like to do something more –chill- like a beach vacation, but visiting my very best friend was so soul filling. It was truly a week full of joy and gratitude and refueling for the weeks ahead. I now feel so refreshed and ready to knock out more goals for 2020!
Also, tons of new designs were created during this time of stepping back, so get excited for new product releases! (I’m lookin’ at you stickers, mugs and phone cases).
P.S. fun fact: I met both Zach and Hillary while working out at the gym. I’m sensing a trend…
